Use your own words but I would thank them for the two times in 2001 and 2010 that Mr. Taylor was Star of the Month. Just let them you know you appreciate the many Taylor films that they show. Then make your request pleasantly. You know how to do this.

Westward the Woman is an incredibly gutsy role for Taylor. It caused me to start searching out movies about him, especially westerns. His riding is every bit authentic as Gary Cooper’s. He rides like he was born in the saddle. (Nebraska Bob… in Ambush and Billy the Kid)
But the REAL comment I wish to make about Robert Taylor is one which might surprise you. Before I get to that, He was capable of great depth, from sincerity to anger. He was Indian Jones Before Raiders (Valley of the Kings). He played tragedy powerfully – look at Devil’s Doorway where he plays a tragic Native American. But the winner for me is his sheer meaness in The Last Hunt. Wild eyed and crazy This movie led me to the conclusion which might surprise some people. I believe he is the only other actor who could have effectively played Ethan Edwards in John Ford’s The Searchers. It is an imaginative possibility that is an alternate piece of casting that makes me go, “What if..” I love the Duke and he is MAJESTIC in the role. But I feel Taylor would have been his equal. Although Bob and Duke knew each other and played poker, it is a shame that they never acted together except yards “apart” with the two versions of Hondo.

One of the greatest aspects of Mr. Taylor’s portrayal in “The Last Hunt” is the way he used his body. Normally he was an extremely graceful and controlled man physically. Here he lumbers around, falling all over himself in the back of a wagon, among other things. I play the “what if” game as well. I think he would have been good in “Father of the Bride.” Mr. Taylor was an excellent horseman who began riding his own pony at 13. As an adult, he raised quarter horses. Thanks for writing. Judith

I watched the introduction to the movie Shanghai Express tonight hosted by Ben Mankiewicz. I noticed all the books in the shelves were placed with their spines reversed so that the titles were not on display, why would somebody do this?

1. If the silent Blackmail (Hitchcock) (restored 2012) is scheduled i hope you can tell me when. If it isn’t, I hope you will schedule it soon.
I have no use for the sound version at all, but the silent is an altogether different matter.

Please bring the Classic Disney movies back! Classics like Pollyanna, Summer Magic, all the live action classic disney. They shouldn’t be forgotten. I like my children to watch the same movies that I watched as a kid. They are family oriented movies that should still be remembered.

As I adored Cicely Tyson and she was amazing your people have totally spit up on the memory of Cloris Leachman who died within 24 hours of Miss Tyson! No tribute on TCMRemembers! FOR SHAME to all of you she was an Oscar winner she was in many films she performed on stage with Katherine Hepburn in as you like it!

When I was a young boy I wished I had such a father like R.T. because my relationship to my
stepfather was the contrary of being good. So it was a great shock for me when Robert Taylor
passed away so young !
